It is a tetraploid cross of H. 'Liberty' and a tetraploid H. 'Royal Standard' — the extra set of chromosomes produces unusually thick, sturdy foliage with a presence that commands the shade garden. Leaves are dark green, broadly ovate, and enormous at 33 cm (13") long × 20 cm (8") wide, forming a giant clump 100 cm (39") tall and 195 cm (77") wide. In late July through August, 165 cm (65") spikes carry deliciously fragrant light lavender flowers above the canopy. Hosta Choice Gardens is the only Canadian nursery offering this rare Hansen exclusive.

Deliciously fragrant blooms: Inheriting its fragrance from the tetraploid H.
