An Autumnal Symphony from the Japanese Wilds
Hosta aequinoctiiantha is a rare Japanese species with a graceful, medium-sized mound of lance-shaped leaves. Its name references the autumnal equinox, reflecting its uniquely late blooming season. The narrow leaves are rich matte green with a slightly shiny underside and wavy margins. It grows reliably across Canadian hardiness zones 3–9 and resists early autumn frosts. Plant it near a walkway to enjoy its purple-striped September flowers as the garden winds down.
-
Late-Season Bloom: One of the latest flowering hostas available, producing beautiful purple-striped flowers well into September and October.

Elegant Lanceolate Foliage: Long, slender green leaves with a shiny underside and slightly wavy margins give this species a refined, fountain-like habit.
-
Botanical Authenticity: As a true species rather than a hybrid, it offers the natural, refined habit found in the wild mountain forests of Japan.
-
Purple-Dotted Petioles: The base of the leaf stems features delicate purple speckling, adding a hidden layer of detail for the observant gardener.
-
Excellent Rockery Scale: Its tidy, fountain-like habit makes it a perfect specimen for rock gardens or the edge of a woodland path.
