A Compact Radiant Jewel for the Front Border
Hosta 'Amy Elizabeth' is a delightful, small-to-medium cultivar that brings a bright, "light-from-within" glow to the Canadian shade garden. Registered in 2003 by Mark Zilis and introduced by Q&Z Nursery, this variety is a striking reverse-coloured sport of Hosta 'Abby'. It is highly prized for its rapid growth rate and its ability to quickly form a dense, tidy mound of heart-shaped foliage. The leaves emerge with a vibrant chartreuse-yellow centre, beautifully framed by a distinctive dark green margin. As the season matures the centres often brighten to a golden-yellow, providing a sharp, clean contrast that remains stunning until the first autumn frost.

Grower's Tip
To maintain the sharpest contrast between the golden centre and green margin, site 'Amy Elizabeth' in a location with dappled morning sun; too much deep shade may cause the centre to stay more chartreuse. At our nursery in Bécancour, QC, we monitor this cultivar closely to ensure the signature "Abby" reverse variegation is stable and vibrant. Following our "True to Type" mandate, we never ship until we visually verify the health and traits of each plant upon its spring emergence, ensuring you receive a verified, robust plant ready for your landscape.
