Yellow-to-White Margins on a Vigorous Blue-Green Sport of H. 'Rotini'
Mike Dammen registered Hosta 'Beautiful Night' in 2020 as a sport of H. 'Rotini'. Broadly ovate, cordate-based leaves are medium blue-green with a striking 5.1 cm (2") wide margin that opens yellow and transitions to white as the season progresses. A glaucous bloom on both leaf surfaces, moderate overall corrugation, and minor streaking where the two colours meet add depth and interest to the large mound. Near-white tubular flowers rise on scapes 71.1–81.3 cm (28–32") tall in early July. Canadian gardeners from Zone 3 through 9 will find it a more vigorous and larger-growing alternative to its parent.
