Description

Frosted Blue Waves and Fragrant Branching Architecture

Hosta 'A Scape Plan' is a medium-sized cultivar introduced by Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery in 2023. It is a sport of Hosta 'Branching Out'. Leaves emerge powdery blue in spring and shift to glossy dark green by mid-summer. It grows well in partial to full shade across Canadian zones 3–9. Its branched scapes and fragrant late blooms make it a standout in any shade garden.

Dual-Season Colour: Leaves emerge with a misty, powdery blue finish in spring before transforming into lustrous, glossy dark green as the summer heat settles in.
Heavily Rippled Motion: Ovate foliage features dramatic wavy margins and a light twist, creating a sense of constant energy within the dense 69 cm (27") mound.
Unique Branching Scapes: This variety produces specialised branched scapes carrying dense clusters of blossoms, unlike the typical linear hosta flower spike.
Sensory Delight: In late August and September, pale lavender tubular flowers fill the garden with fragrance, providing a scented finale to the growing season.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	35 cm × 69 cm (14" × 27")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Powdery blue-green maturing to glossy dark green
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: Hosta 'A Scape Plan' is an excellent choice for late-season interest — its heavy substance and fragrant blooms hold up beautifully when other varieties begin to fade. We never ship dormant roots based on a label. We wait for spring emergence at our Bécancour, QC trial fields to verify that the rippled margins and waxy bloom are True to Type before your order is approved for shipping.
