Description

A Giant of Commanding Presence for the Bold Shade Garden

Hosta 'Drop-dead Gorgeous' is a giant hosta bred by Hans Hansen and introduced through Walters Gardens. Registered in 2019, it produces enormous, heavily corrugated leaves in a rich blue-green that deepens to forest green through the season. The sheer scale of its foliage makes it an instant focal point in any shaded landscape. It is reliably hardy across Canadian zones 3–9. Plant it where it has room to perform — this is a hosta that earns its name.

Monumental Scale: Mature plants reach 76 cm (30") high by 203 cm (80") wide, creating a bold, weed-suppressing mound that dominates the shade border.
Heavily Corrugated Foliage: The broad, heart-shaped leaves are deeply puckered and corrugated, adding rich texture and a sculptural quality to the garden.
Season-Long Colour: Foliage emerges blue-green in spring and transitions to a deep, lustrous green by midsummer, maintaining its presence through to frost.
Summer Blooms: Pale lavender to near-white flowers rise on tall scapes in mid-summer, adding a delicate contrast to the bold foliage below.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	76 cm × 203 cm (30" × 80")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Blue-green transitioning to forest green
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: Give 'Drop-dead Gorgeous' generous spacing from the start — it needs room to reach its full spread of 203 cm (80"). We verify every plant is True‑to‑Type before shipping, confirming that signature corrugation and scale are present before your order leaves our hands.
