Description

A Luminous White Centre Framed by Deep Forest Green

Gerard Heemskerk registered Hosta 'Amazone' in 2018 as a sport of H. 'Paul Revere', itself tracing back to the legendary H. 'Patriot'. The broad heart-shaped leaves feature a brilliant snow-white centre sharply defined by a thick forest-green margin — one of the cleanest white-centred hostas available. Foliage is thick and stiff with a sturdy architectural presence and superior slug resistance. It grows reliably across Canadian hardiness zones 3–9 and tolerates morning sun better than most white-centred varieties.

Exceptional Bicolour Definition: Pure white centre provides a stark, luminous contrast against saturated dark green edges that flame inward, creating one of the most striking white-centred hostas in the shade garden.
Superior Sun Resistance: Significantly more sun-tolerant than many white-centred varieties, holding its crisp colour without scorched edges in morning light.
Thick Stiff Leaf Substance: Sturdy, architectural foliage gives a bold presence in the border and provides excellent natural resistance to slugs throughout the season.
Tidy Symmetrical Habit: Forms a neat, symmetrical mound 40 cm (16") tall and 65–70 cm (26–28") wide — ideal as a front-of-border specimen or a high-impact container planting.
Lavender Blooms on Tall Scapes: Elegant lavender flowers on 50 cm (20") scapes appear in mid-July, adding a soft floral accent above the bold white and green foliage.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	40 cm × 65–70 cm (16" × 26–28")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Pure white centre with dark green margin
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade; morning sun tolerated

Grower's Tip: Dappled morning light helps develop the bright white centre on 'Amazone' while afternoon shade keeps it pristine — it handles Canadian winters with ease from Zone 3 through 9 and is a natural fit for the shaded front gardens of Halifax where the cool Atlantic air keeps white-centred hostas looking fresh well into September. We grow it at our nursery in Bécancour, QC and monitor each division until the signature wide white centre and stiff leaf texture are fully present before every plant ships. Our True to Type standard means you receive the authentic Hosta 'Amazone', verified before it leaves Bécancour.
