Description

Intensely Blue and Symmetrical — A Star Trek Series Gem

Dirk Dupré registered Hosta 'Andorian' in 2009 as part of his celebrated Star Trek series. The medium-sized leaves are an intense blue-green with a slightly folded, wavy, and lightly corrugated texture that creates just enough surface interest without overwhelming the clean, symmetrical clump. Foliage is dense and well-formed with 6–7 vein pairs and a refined, architectural presence. It grows reliably across Canadian hardiness zones 3–9. Use it as a collector's accent or a refined textural companion in a shaded border where its cool blue tones can be appreciated up close.

Intense Blue-Green Colouring: A rich, saturated blue-green that holds its cool tone through the Canadian summer, making it one of the more intensely coloured medium blues in the shade garden.
Multi-Textured Leaf Surface: Lightly folded, wavy, and subtly corrugated leaves create refined surface interest — enough to reward close observation without losing the clean symmetry of the clump.
Dense Symmetrical Clump: Forms a tidy, well-balanced mound 25 cm (10") tall and 40 cm (16") wide that holds its shape beautifully throughout the season.
Pale Lavender Blooms on Blue-Green Scapes: Elegant pale lavender flowers rise on 50 cm (20") blue-green scapes in July and August, adding graceful vertical interest above the blue mound.
Star Trek Series Collector Pedigree: Part of Dirk Dupré's acclaimed Star Trek series, 'Andorian' carries the documented collector provenance that makes this series so sought-after by hosta enthusiasts.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	25 cm × 40 cm (10" × 16")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Intense blue-green; pale lavender flowers
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: 'Andorian' handles Canadian winters with ease from Zone 3 through 9, and its compact symmetrical habit makes it a natural fit for the smaller urban gardens of downtown Montréal where space is at a premium but the desire for a true collector blue hosta is not. We grow it at our nursery in Bécancour, QC and verify the characteristic intense blue-green colouring and dense clump formation before every plant ships. Our True to Type standard means you receive the authentic Dirk Dupré selection, confirmed before it leaves Bécancour.
