Description

A Heavenly Cascade

As a divine sport of the award-winning 'Niagara Falls', Hosta 'Angel Falls' brings a luminous, ethereal quality to the shaded corners of any Canadian garden. This large, showy cultivar is the reverse variegation of 'Bridal Falls', featuring a rounded mound of cascading foliage that flows with grace. Its wide, creamy-white centres are framed by substantial, 2-inch dark green margins that create a sharp, dramatic contrast. As the leaves mature, they develop deep ridges and a beautifully rippled "pie-crust" edge that arches downward, mimicking the movement of a slow-motion waterfall. It is a sophisticated choice for those looking to add both bright illumination and complex texture to their landscape.

Why It Stands Out

Luminous Variegation: The striking creamy-white centre remains vibrant throughout the season, significantly brightening dark garden spots.
Cascading Architecture: The mature, heart-shaped leaves arch elegantly to the ground, forming a dense, symmetrical mound.
Dynamic Colour Shifts: Emerging with lime-green tones in the spring, the leaf centres transition to a crisp ivory as the summer heat sets in.
Textural Depth: Deeply veined and corrugated foliage provides a coarse, high-impact texture that stands out against finer ferns or grasses.
Lavender Summer Accents: Pale lavender, bell-shaped flowers rise on 60 cm scapes in mid-summer, providing a soft vertical element.

Grower's Tip

To maintain the pristine white centre of Hosta 'Angel Falls' and prevent "melting out," we recommend planting it in a spot that receives dappled morning light but is strictly protected from the harsh, drying afternoon sun. Like all our premium varieties, we monitor this cultivar closely at our Bécancour nursery. We wait for the first flush of spring growth to confirm the variegation is stable and the root system is vigorous before shipping. This True to Type verification ensures you receive a healthy, living plant that is ready to thrive in your specific Canadian zone, from the coastal moisture of BC to the rugged winters of Newfoundland.
