Hosta 'Angie's Dimples' | Glossy Dark Green Dimpled Large Hosta Milbradt Sea Lightning Sport

Description

A Lustrous Emerald Gem With a Signature Dimpled Finish

Marc Milbradt introduced Hosta 'Angie's Dimples' as an unregistered all-green sport of H. 'Sea Lightning'. The large, broadly heart-shaped leaves are a deep, glossy dark green with a mirror-like shine that accentuates the emerald colour through the season. As the plant matures, the foliage develops a subtle crinkled texture with scattered dimples that catch dappled light and add tactile depth. Foliage is thick and leathery with excellent pest resistance. Canadian gardeners from Zone 3 through 9 will find it a lush, commanding presence in the mid-border shade garden.

  • High-gloss foliage: A mirror-like shine accentuates the deep emerald-green colour, making 'Angie’s Dimples' one of the most lustrous solid green hostas available for the shade garden.
  • Signature dimpled texture: Subtle crinkling and scattered dimples develop as the plant matures, adding refined tactile depth and a boutique quality that rewards close observation.
  • Large architectural habit: Forms a commanding, tidy mound approximately 50 cm (20") tall and 60 cm (24") wide, perfect for filling gaps in the mid-border or anchoring a shaded planting.
  • Elite pest resistance: Heavy, leathery leaf substance makes this variety a tough target for slugs and common garden pests throughout the Canadian growing season.
  • Sea Lightning heritage: As a sport of H. 'Sea Lightning', it inherits robust growth and reliable hardiness, giving 'Angie’s Dimples' proven northern vigour across the full range of Canadian hardiness zones.

Grower’s Tip: Site 'Angie’s Dimples' in filtered light or deep shade to maintain the high-gloss finish — protection from harsh afternoon sun keeps the emerald colour saturated and prevents leaf stress.
