Alex Malloy of South Salem, New York registered Hosta 'Anglo Saxon' in 2001 from a streaked selection of H. 'Crepe Suzette' crossed with H. 'Halcyon'. Broadly ovate leaves with a flat base reach 14 cm (5.5") long × 11.4 cm (4.5") wide, with 9 vein pairs and a narrow 0.6 cm (¼") bright yellow flat margin. The slightly shiny surface on both sides gives the medium green centre a clean, polished appearance, while moderate corrugation adds tactile depth to the round, puckered leaf. Canadian gardeners from Zone 3 through 9 will find it a reliable medium-sized shade specimen with a moderate, steady growth rate.
