Description

Upright Gold with Dark Purple Legs and a Creamy White Edge

Randy Goodwin registered Hosta 'Autumn Ridge' as a small upright hosta with golden-yellow leaves framed by clean 1.3 cm (½") creamy white margins. The ovate leaves are lightly cupped, moderately twisted and wavy, creating a dynamic flared mound that catches light from every angle. Dark purple petioles at the base provide a striking botanical contrast to the bright golden foliage above. It grows reliably across Canadian hardiness zones 3–9. Use it in a slightly elevated position or container where the purple petioles and twisted tips can be appreciated at eye level.

Striking Purple Petioles: Dark purple bases contrast sharply with the upright golden foliage, adding a rare two-tone botanical detail that makes 'Autumn Ridge' instantly recognisable in the shade border.
Crisp Creamy White Margin: A clean 1.3 cm (½") creamy white edge frames every leaf precisely, providing high contrast against the warm golden-yellow centre.
Intricate Leaf Architecture: Lightly cupped, moderately twisted, and wavy ovate leaves create sophisticated tactile depth and a vertical vase-like habit reaching 30 cm (12") tall.
Multi-Season Interest: Green scapes with purplish bases carry lavender flowers in summer, followed by attractive reddish-purple seed pods that extend the season well into autumn.
Collector-Grade Goodwin Original: Bred by Randy Goodwin, 'Autumn Ridge' is a refined small hosta with the kind of complex detail that rewards close observation and earns a permanent place in a specialist collection.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	30 cm × 46 cm (12" × 18")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Golden-yellow centre with 1.3 cm creamy white margin; purple petioles
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: Plant 'Autumn Ridge' in a slightly elevated bed or container so the dark purple petioles are visible at eye level — that detail alone makes it worth the effort. It handles Canadian winters with ease from Zone 3 through 9, and we grow it at our nursery in Bécancour, QC where we monitor every division through its spring flush to verify the creamy margin and characteristic twisting before it ships. Our True to Type standard means you receive the authentic 'Autumn Ridge', confirmed before it leaves Bécancour.
