Hosta 'Beautiful Dreamer' | Medium Green Pure White Margin Ward Seedling

Description

A Striking Pure White Margin on a Tidy Medium Mound — a Dick and Jane Ward Zany Janie Seedling

Dick and Jane Ward registered Hosta 'Beautiful Dreamer' in 2010 as a seedling of H. 'Zany Janie'. Medium green broadly ovate leaves carry a striking 2.5 cm (1") wide pure white flat margin — a bold, clean contrast that earned it its notable characteristic designation. Leaves are flat with a cordate base, dull on both surfaces, and lightly veined with 7 pairs. Near-white tubular flowers appear on green scapes in mid-July. Canadian gardeners from Zone 3 through 9 will find it a refined and eye-catching medium border hosta.

  • Striking pure white margin: A clean, flat 2.5 cm (1") wide pure white margin frames each medium green leaf — bold contrast that commands attention in the shade border.
  • Flat, broadly ovate form: Flat leaves with a cordate base and 7 vein pairs give the clump a clean, orderly character well-suited to formal or collector gardens.
  • Zany Janie lineage: A seedling of H. 'Zany Janie', registered by Dick and Jane Ward in 2010 and selected for its exceptional white margin width and clarity.
  • Near-white summer blooms: Tubular near-white flowers rise on green scapes to 50.8 cm (20") in mid-July, adding a soft seasonal accent above the foliage.
  • Well-proportioned medium mound: At 33.0 cm (13") tall and 76.2 cm (30") wide, it fits beautifully at the front or middle of a shade border without overwhelming neighbouring plants.
