Rare Chartreuse, Originator's Stock, A Canadian First

Don Dean registered Hosta 'Blood, Sweat and Tears' in 2000, crossing 'Little Wonder' with 'Aspen Gold' at his Minnesota breeding program. Its chartreuse leaves carry good substance and hold their luminous colour through the full Canadian growing season. It performs reliably from Zone 3 through 9. This cultivar is exceptionally rare — Hosta Choice Gardens acquired our founding plant at an American Hosta Society Auction in Minneapolis, and it has never been widely offered in Canada outside of our own offerings.

Luminous Chartreuse Foliage: The greenish-yellow leaves act as a steady light source in shaded borders, brightening dark corners from spring emergence through late summer. Morning sun can draw out warmer yellow tones in the foliage.
