Description

A Luminous Sapphire Jewel for the Canadian Shade

Discovered as a stunning sport of Hosta 'Halcyon', Hosta 'Blue Ivory' is widely considered a modern tour de force for its stark, high-contrast variegation. In the cool, crisp mornings from the Okanagan Valley to the rugged Atlantic coast, the thick, slug-resistant leaves display a deep cerulean centre wrapped in a wide, creamy-white margin. This cultivar brings a refined, architectural presence to any garden, acting as a bright beacon that illuminates even the deepest grey days of a Canadian spring.

Why It Stands Out

Striking Cobalt Contrast: The heart-shaped leaves feature a rich, powdery blue core that remains vibrant well into the summer heat.
Luminous Expanding Margins: The edges emerge a soft, buttery yellow before maturing into a brilliant ivory-white, creating a shimmering effect in the shade.
Exceptional Leaf Substance: Inheriting the heavy wax of its parentage, this variety offers a matte, glaucous bloom that is both elegant and remarkably durable.
Late Summer Elegance: Sturdy scapes produce delicate, light lavender flowers in mid-to-late summer, providing a soft vertical element to the mounded form.

Technical Specs

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	40.6 cm × 76.2 cm (16" × 30")

Grower's Tip

To prevent melting out of the white margins in high-humidity regions, ensure this beauty receives excellent air circulation and dappled light. Because we are dedicated to our True to Type philosophy, we never ship until we see that iconic blue-and-white contrast clearly defined in our Bécancour trial beds, ensuring your plant arrives with its signature hallmark traits intact.
