Description

A Shimmering Sapphire Lancet for the Canadian Garden

Expertly bred by Doug and Mardy Beilstein, Hosta 'Blue Tooth' is a refined result of crossing the classic Hosta 'June' with the elegant Hosta 'Azure Snow'. This medium-sized cultivar forms a perfectly balanced mound that serves as a hallmark of structural beauty, whether gracing a garden in the fertile Saint Lawrence Valley or a breezy coastal plot in the Maritimes. With its distinctive elongated foliage and powdery finish, it offers a sophisticated architectural presence that brightens even the most overcast Canadian mornings.

Why It Stands Out

Luminous Powder-Blue Foliage: The long, lance-shaped leaves emerge with a dense glaucous bloom on both the top and underside, maintaining an intense sapphire-to-beryl tone throughout the season.
Refined Lance Architecture: Unlike the typical rounded hosta leaf, this variety features elegant 29 cm long blades with a rounded base and a smooth, flat surface that provides a clean, modern aesthetic.
Striking Floral Contrast: In late summer, sturdy scapes bearing medium lavender, tubular flowers rise above the blue canopy, providing a vibrant vertical element against the cool foliage.
Consistent Mounded Vigour: With a moderate growth rate, this selection matures into a substantial 90 cm wide presence, offering a reliable form that resists the typical pests of a rainy spring.

Technical Specs

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	45.7 cm × 91.4 cm (18″ × 36″)
Hardiness Zone	Canadian Zones 3–9
Colour	Intense powder-blue with glaucous bloom

Grower's Tip

To keep the blue in Hosta 'Blue Tooth' looking its best, site it in a location with dappled light to protect that delicate waxy coating from the midday sun. Because we are committed to our True to Type philosophy, we wait for those signature lance-shaped leaves to fully emerge in our Bécancour fields to verify the 'June' parentage traits before we ever ship a division to your door.
