Description

A Sharp-Dressed Sentinel for the Sculptural Garden

Introduced through the collaboration of the late Dr. Ralph Benedict and master gardener Hideko Gowen, Hosta 'Bridegroom' is a sophisticated pinnacle of leaf texture and form. Renowned for its unique architectural flair, this medium-sized cultivar is a hallmark of elegance in the shade garden. Whether standing guard along a stone pathway in the Laurentians or anchoring a perennial bed in the Annapolis Valley, its deeply saturated colour and distinctive twisted personality make it an unmistakable standout.

Why It Stands Out

Deep Forest Lustre: The foliage is a rich, dark green with a remarkably shiny finish, providing a lush, polished look that reflects the dappled sunlight of the canopy above.
Distinctive Twisted Tips: Each heart-shaped leaf features a signature hooked or twisted tip, giving the plant a playful yet refined silhouette that sets it apart from traditional hostas.
Deeply Impressed Veining: The leaves boast deep, prominent veins that add a rugged, corduroy-like texture, enhancing visual depth and garden presence.
Lavender Summer Accents: In mid-to-late summer, sturdy scapes rise above the 86 cm wide mound to produce clusters of lovely lavender flowers.
