Description

The Fort Knox of Blue Hostas

If you are tired of your hostas looking like Swiss cheese by mid-July, Hosta 'Bulletproof' is the reinforcement your garden needs. A tetraploid sport of the legendary Hosta 'Halcyon', this variety was bred for sheer durability. It doesn't just survive the Canadian shade — it dominates it with a steely resolve that pests find completely impenetrable.

Why It Stands Out

Slug-Defying Substance: The leaves are exceptionally thick and rubbery, providing outstanding resistance to slug and snail damage throughout the season.
High-Definition Blue: Features a glaucous, frosted blue-green texture that holds its intense colour much later into the season than other blue varieties.
Structural Integrity: Its spear-shaped, pointed foliage grows in a dense, semi-upright mound, adding a sophisticated architectural element to any border.
Hummingbird Magnet: In mid-to-late summer, tall scapes produce elegant, pale lavender bell-shaped flowers that are highly attractive to pollinators.

Grower's Tip

To maintain the powdery blue appearance, plant 'Bulletproof' in a spot that avoids direct afternoon sun, which can dissolve the waxy protective coating and cause the leaves to appear more green. At Hosta Choice Gardens, we follow our True to Type protocol — we wait until our plants emerge right here in Bécancour and personally verify the health and thick blue foliage of every 'Bulletproof' before it leaves our nursery, ensuring it is ready to thrive in your Canadian garden from day one.
