Description

A glossy catch for the shade garden

Hosta 'Catch of the Day' brings pale yellow centres and wide, dark green margins to a shady border. Bob Solberg registered this sport of 'Hoosier Harmony' in 2013. Its very shiny leaves catch the light, giving the semi-upright clump a bright, polished look. It grows faster and carries a wider green margin than its parent. Pair it with blue hostas or fine-textured ferns for an inviting contrast.

Bold leaf contrast: Broadly ovate leaves frame their pale yellow centres with dark green margins about 1.9 cm (0.75 in) wide. Their rounded bases and relatively flat surfaces keep the pattern easy to appreciate.
Glossy garden presence: Both leaf surfaces shine, adding a reflective quality beside softer, matte foliage. Individual leaves measure 17.8 × 12.7 cm (7 × 5 in).
Lively growth: Its fast growth and semi-upright habit help it build a welcoming focal point without hiding the colour at its centre.
Soft summer flowers: Near-white tubular blooms open from buds with lavender tips, adding a gentle finishing touch above the foliage. Bloom timing varies with local growing conditions.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	50.8 × 91.4 cm (20 × 36 in)
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Pale yellow centre with wide dark green margins
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: Give this glossy hosta evenly moist, well-drained soil and shelter from harsh afternoon sun. Hardy in Zones 3–9, it suits Canadian gardens where winter dormancy makes spring's fresh foliage especially welcome. Our True to Type standard means you receive the authentic 'Catch of the Day', verified before shipping.
