Description

The Dramatic Summit of Corrugated Golden Grandeur

L. G. Jones registered Hosta 'Climax' in 2000 as a sport of 'High Noon'. It inherits its parent's large scale and adds wide gold margins to deeply corrugated dark green leaves. The heart-shaped leaves are thick and puckered, providing strong natural resistance to slugs. It grows reliably across Canadian hardiness zones 3–9. Use it as a regal focal point in large shaded borders or woodland gardens.

Heavy Texture: Dark green leaves are deeply corrugated and puckered, giving the plant a rugged, high-impact substance that naturally discourages slugs.
Luminous Gold Margins: A wide, irregular gold border wraps each leaf, providing a brilliant glow that illuminates the shadier reaches of the garden.
Dramatic Silhouette: With its upright-to-mounding habit and massive leaf size, it serves as a commanding focal point throughout the season.
Summer Splendour: In mid-to-late July, tall, sturdy scapes bear near-white lavender bell-shaped flowers that add seasonal movement and grace.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	60–75 cm × 120–150 cm (24–30" × 48–60")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Dark green with wide gold margins
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: To reach its full size and texture, this variety appreciates deep, organic-rich soil and consistent moisture. Because the wide golden margins and heavy corrugation are what make this cultivar a standout, we wait for the leaves to break soil at our Bécancour, QC trial fields to visually confirm that the variegation and leaf thickness are True to Type before any order is prepared for delivery.
