Statuesque Sapphire Elegance for the Shaded Border
Hosta 'Country Dreaming' is a large blue hosta registered in 2013 by Don Dean. It is a cross between Hosta 'Purple Verticulated Elf' and Hosta 'Northern Heritage'. Its most commanding trait is the intensely glaucous, dark blue-green foliage that holds its colour deep into the season. It thrives across Canadian hardiness zones 3–9, performing reliably from the cool valleys of the Rockies to the Maritimes. Divisions offered here are sourced directly from the Originator's Stock Plant, ensuring True to Type vigour and form.
-
Intense Cobalt Saturation: A thick glaucous bloom coats both the top and underside of each leaf, maintaining a deep matte blue-green hue well into late summer.
-
Architectural Vase Habit: The upright, flared silhouette reaches 56 cm (22") in height, creating beautiful underplanting opportunities with smaller gold or chartreuse companions.
-
Dynamic Wave and Fold: Broadly ovate leaves feature moderately to deeply wavy margins and a light twist, adding sophisticated movement to the 102 cm (40") mound.
-
Slug-Resistant Texture: The moderately corrugated and rugose surface provides rugged substance that stands up well to the variable Canadian climate.

Grower's Tip: To preserve the waxy sapphire bloom, site this cultivar in your deepest shade or a spot with filtered northern light. Because our stock is derived directly from the Originator's Stock Plant, we are meticulous about plant health and never ship dormant crowns. We monitor spring emergence at our Bécancour trial fields to verify the vase-shaped habit and glaucous finish are True to Type before your order is prepared for delivery.
