A Luminous Giant with Rippled Satin Leaves and Rose-Blushed Scapes
Hosta 'Country Melody' is a giant gold-chartreuse hosta bred by Don Dean and registered in 2013. It descends from legendary parents including 'Liberty Bell', 'Ebony Spires', and 'Sun Power'. Its broadly ovate leaves are heavily rippled with a satin sheen on both surfaces. It thrives in Canadian gardens from zones 3–9. Our stock is a direct division from the hybridizer's plant, grown and verified at our Bécancour, QC trial fields.
-
Vibrant Colour Stability: Leaves emerge in a brilliant greenish-yellow and hold their colour throughout the summer without fading.
-
Artistic Ruffling: Heavy ripples and a light twist create a sense of rhythmic, waving motion across the 132 cm (52") spread.
-
Satin-Sheen Finish: Foliage has a slightly shiny texture on both surfaces, catching and reflecting dappled light in the shade garden.
-
Blushing Floral Display: In mid-to-late summer, scapes matching the leaf colour carry near-white flowers with a sophisticated rose-pink blush at the top.

Grower's Tip: Despite its immense width, 'Country Melody' forms a neat, low-profile mound — a crown jewel for large garden beds. Our stock is derived directly from the hybridizer's plant. We verify rippled margins and rose-blushed scapes are True to Type at our Bécancour trial fields before every order ships.
