Description

A Radiant Seasonal Waltz for the Canadian Shade Garden

Hosta 'Dancing Queen' is a large, vigorous cultivar bred by Kent Terpening from H. 'Split Personality'. It earned Hosta of the Year recognition for its dramatic seasonal colour journey — opening chartreuse in spring before intensifying to a brilliant yellow. By midsummer, foliage mellows to a soft pale yellow, offering three distinct colour phases in one plant. Hardy across Canadian zones 3–9, it suits shaded borders and mass plantings coast to coast. Every plant is verified True to Type at our Bécancour trial fields before it ships.

Dynamic Colour Journey: Foliage shifts from chartreuse in spring to brilliant yellow at peak season, then mellows to a soft pale yellow — three seasons of colour in one plant.
Exceptional Piecrust Edging: Highly developed rippled margins catch the light beautifully, adding textural drama to borders and mass plantings alike.
Stately Presence: Large, arching leaves and a wide mound diameter make it a commanding focal point in any Canadian shade garden.
Mid-Summer Blooms: Tall scapes produce delicate pale lavender tubular flowers that offer a soft contrast to the vibrant golden foliage below.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	48 cm × 71 cm (19" × 28")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Chartreuse to brilliant yellow to pale yellow
Light Requirements	Partial to light shade

Grower's Tip: Plant 'Dancing Queen' alongside deep forest-green or blue-toned hostas to maximise the luminous contrast of its golden foliage. We monitor the spring chartreuse-to-yellow transition at our Bécancour trial fields — this True to Type verification ensures every division arrives ready to perform in Canada's varied northern climates.
