Description

A Sunshine-Seeking Chalice of Golden Radiance

Hosta 'Double D Cup' is a Stuart Asch introduction registered in 2017. It is a sport of Hosta 'Dean’s List', known for its dramatic cupping and heavy corrugation. The leaves emerge grey-green in spring, then shift to a brilliant yellow centre with medium green margins by mid-summer. It needs more light than most hostas to develop its best colour. It suits Canadian zones 3–9 and works well in a bright, dappled border.

Dramatic Mature Cupping: Deeply cupped, broadly ovate leaves create a bold, sculptural presence in the landscape.
Dynamic Colour Shift: Transitions from grey-green in spring to a brilliant yellow centre with contrasting medium green margins by mid-summer.
Late-Season Stamina: Holds its colour and leaf integrity well into autumn, long after many other hostas have faded.
Textural Masterpiece: Heavy corrugation and 12 pairs of deep veins give a rugged, puckered look that deters slugs and adds visual weight.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	51 cm × 107 cm (20" × 42")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Yellow centre with medium green margins
Light Requirements	Partial sun to light shade

Grower's Tip: This is a late riser — don't be alarmed if its spot looks bare in early May. We wait for full emergence at our Bécancour trial fields to confirm True to Type margin width and variegation before shipping.
