Description

A Radiant Beacon of Early-Season Brilliance

Hosta 'Eye Declare' is a Walters Gardens introduction and a sport of Hosta 'Sea Fire'. It emerges in spring with a pale yellow centre that glows against the dark soil for a striking early-season display. The viridescent centres gradually shift to a soft greenish-yellow as summer progresses. Irregular medium green margins frame the luminous centre with a crisp, architectural edge. It suits Canadian zones 3–9 in part to full shade.

High-Contrast Frame: Bright pale yellow centres are encircled by irregular medium green margins that provide a crisp, architectural edge throughout the season.
Textural Depth: Ten to twelve deep vein pairs and a moderately corrugated surface give the leaves a rugged, sophisticated feel.
Lustrous Finish: A slightly shiny coating on both leaf surfaces catches dappled light and creates a shimmering effect in the mid-border.
Chartreuse Accents: In mid-summer, chartreuse scapes rise above the mound carrying large, tubular medium lavender flowers for a vertical pop of colour.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	46 cm × 56 cm (18" × 22")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Pale to greenish-yellow with medium green margins
Light Requirements	Part shade to full shade

Grower's Tip: Bright, indirect morning light maximises the neon glow of the spring emergence and keeps the viridescent colour shift vivid through summer. We confirm the specific irregular green margin and luminous centre are True to Type at our Bécancour trial fields before each plant ships.
