Hosta 'Fruit Cup' | Dark Green Round Shiny Cupped Small Hosta Beilstein

Description

A Perfectly Rounded Cup of Deep Green Elegance

Doug and Mardy Beilstein registered Hosta 'Fruit Cup' in 2013 from a cross of Minuta and Shining Tot seedlings with a Lakeside Looking Glass open-pollinated seedling. The nearly round, cordate-based leaves are dark green, very shiny on both surfaces, and moderately cupped and corrugated with 6 vein pairs. It grows reliably across Canadian hardiness zones 3–9 with a medium to fast growth rate. Use it as a refined front-of-border accent or container specimen in shaded and partially shaded gardens.

  • Exceptional Shine: Both the upper and lower leaf surfaces are very shiny, giving 'Fruit Cup' a polished, lacquered quality that catches every shift in dappled light.
  • Perfectly Round Form: Nearly round, cordate-based leaves with moderate cupping and corrugation create a distinctive bowl-like silhouette that stands out among small hostas.
  • Compact and Tidy: Reaching 20 cm (8") high and 33 cm (13") wide, it forms a neat, well-behaved mound well suited to edging, rock gardens, and container plantings.
  • Late Season Lavender Blooms: Medium lavender tubular flowers up to 2 cm (¾") long appear from mid-August through early September on scapes reaching 56 cm (22"), extending the garden season beautifully.
  • Beilstein Pedigree: Bred by Doug and Mardy Beilstein, 'Fruit Cup' inherits the vigour and substance of its complex parentage, growing slightly larger and faster than the original H. 'Fruit Cup' variegated form.

Our True to Type standard means you receive the authentic 'Fruit Cup', confirmed before it leaves Bécancour.
