A Shimmering Gold Sport That Intensifies All Season Long
Hosta 'Laura Lanier' is a medium-sized sport that Kuk's Forest Nursery discovered from H. 'Sea Yellow Sunrise'. J. Lanier nominated it for registration in 2002. Its leaves emerge with a glaucous bloom over a greenish gold centre, then the top surface burns off to a very shiny finish as the season advances. It thrives across Canada from Zone 3 through 9, making it a reliable performer from coast to coast. Plant it in a shaded border where its intensifying colour and glossy finish can be appreciated right through to frost.

Leaf: Ovate with a flat base and lightly wavy edges; greenish gold centre with a 1.0 cm (0.4") dark green, slightly rippled margin; emerges glaucous on top, burns to a very shiny finish; glaucous bloom retained underneath all season.

Size: Mound-like habit reaching 45 cm high × 102 cm wide (18" × 40"); fast growth rate.

Flower: Pale lavender, tubular blooms, 4.8 cm (1.9") long on light green scapes 36–46 cm (14–18") tall; blooms mid-July through mid-August.
