Description

A Masterpiece of Rarity and Symmetrical Blue Radiance

In the world of hosta collecting, few opportunities are as significant as the introduction of a variety that has remained virtually unseen across the Canadian landscape. Hosta 'Sanctuary' is a quiet tour de force from the specialized breeding program of Monty and Julie Carlson, representing a level of exclusivity that is seldom found between the Rockies and the Atlantic. What makes our current offering truly a pinnacle for the connoisseur is its provenance; these available plants are direct divisions from the Hybridizer's Original Stock (O/S) plant. This ensures that the magnificent symmetry and vibrant sapphire-to-teal transitions you see in your garden are genetically identical to the hybridizer's own vision.

Why It Stands Out

Originator's Stock Exclusivity: Unlike common tissue-culture mass productions, these are genuine divisions from the hybridizer's own mother plant.
The Blue Transformation: This variety is celebrated for a unique "colour-flip" where its leaves intensify from a deep green into a vibrant, waxy blue as the Canadian season matures.
Impeccable Symmetry: It forms a perfectly balanced, mounded habit that serves as a calming architectural centre in a busy shade border.
Rare Lavender Display: The mid-summer flower scapes are notably attractive, offering a soft lavender contrast against the cooling blue foliage.

Grower's Tip

Because Hosta 'Sanctuary' is an extremely rare specimen in Canada, we recommend placing it in a protected "jewel box" area of your garden where its development can be closely monitored. To maintain its status as a hallmark of your collection, we follow our strict True to Type protocol in Bécancour, verifying that every division shows the specific Carlson breeding traits before shipping. This meticulous verification is our promise that the rarity you purchase is exactly the 'Sanctuary' you deserve.
