Hosta 'Sister Act' | Chartreuse to Gold Centre Dark Green Margin Large Hosta Sport of Step Sister

Description

A Season-Long Colour Performance in Gold and Dark Green

Hosta 'Sister Act' is a large, eye-catching cultivar and a sport of H. 'Step Sister', selected for its wider margins and more vivid centre colour contrast. The leaves emerge in spring with a soft chartreuse centre under a delicate wax coating that gives the foliage a hazy, luminous quality. As summer arrives, that centre transitions to a bright, saturated gold — dramatically framed by wide, dark green margins that deepen the contrast with each passing week. Near-white flowers arrive in early summer on tall scapes above the bold mound. It performs reliably across Canadian hardiness zones 3 through 9.

  • Spring Centre: Soft chartreuse with a delicate wax coating in spring — a hazy, luminous quality that gives the emerging mound a fresh, glowing appearance.
  • Summer Transition: Centre brightens to a vivid gold by midsummer — one of the most dramatic centre colour shifts of any large variegated hosta.
  • Margins: Wide, dark green margins that frame the chartreuse-to-gold centre with bold, high-contrast definition — wider than its parent H. 'Step Sister'.
  • Leaf Substance: Thick, puckered foliage with good substance — a sturdy, well-structured mound that holds its form through the season.
  • Flowers: Near-white blooms in early summer on tall scapes — a clean, elegant floral display above the two-toned foliage.
  • Size: 46 cm (18") tall × 102 cm (40") wide — a commanding large mound with strong border presence.
  • Hardiness: Zones 3–9 — reliably cold-hardy across Canada.
Feature Specification

Grower's Tip: 'Sister Act' handles Canadian winters with ease from Zone 3 through 9, and the gold centre is most vivid in a site with dappled morning light — a touch of brightness intensifies the colour shift without scorching the foliage. At our nursery in Bécancour, QC, we verify the signature wide dark green margins and chartreuse-to-gold centre before shipping. Our True to Type standard means you receive the authentic 'Sister Act', verified before it leaves Bécancour.
