Hosta 'Suruga' | Rare Find from Hideko Gowan's Japanese Expeditions

Description

Rare origins from Japanese expeditions

Hosta 'Suruga', an exceptionally rare hosta, is sourced directly from Japan during Hideko Gowan's botanical expeditions. Known for its refined texture and architectural form, this cultivar stands out in any garden. Its colour palette may seem subtle at first glance, but it reveals complex hues upon closer inspection.

Intriguing and promising development

Although the 'Suruga' breeding lineage remains largely unproven, early seedling trials have shown promise. These seedlings are under careful evaluation, aiming to capture the plant's unique characteristics. Hosta 'Suruga' reaches a mature size of medium to medium-large, serving as a captivating focal point for any shade garden.

A true rarity in the Hosta World

Our display plant, referred to as 'Originator's Stock,' is believed to be the only one of its kind in Canada. This makes it highly sought-after by collectors who value genuine horticultural merit. 'Suruga' not only enriches gardens but also embodies the passion and dedication of skilled hosta explorers.
