Description

A Bold Grey-Green Hosta with a Warm Yellow Edge

Mary Pratt of Peoria, Illinois introduced Hosta 'Three Sisters' as a medium-large variegated hosta with grey-green leaves and a bold yellow margin. The foliage has good substance, a slightly corrugated texture, and a heart-shaped base that gives each leaf a full, rounded presence. It grows reliably across Canadian hardiness zones 3–9. Plant it as a mid-border focal point in shaded or partially shaded gardens where the contrasting margin can be appreciated from a distance.

Bold Yellow Margin: A wide, warm yellow margin frames the grey-green centre cleanly, creating high-contrast variegation that brightens shaded borders throughout the season.
Good Substance: Thick, well-structured leaves with slight corrugation give 'Three Sisters' durability and natural resistance to slug damage for a medium-large hosta.
Heart-Shaped Form: The cordate leaf base and rounded overall shape provide a soft, full presence that contrasts beautifully with more upright or narrow-leaved companions.
Pale Lavender Blooms: Elegant pale lavender flowers rise above the mound in summer, adding graceful vertical interest and a gentle colour echo to the yellow margin below.
Substantial Spread: Reaching 41 cm (16") tall and 109 cm (43") wide at maturity, it makes a commanding mid-border specimen or an impressive mass planting in larger shade gardens.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	41 cm × 109 cm (16" × 43")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Grey-green with yellow margin
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: 'Three Sisters' handles Canadian winters with ease from Zone 3 through 9, and the yellow margin holds its colour well through the season with consistent moisture and morning shade. We grow it at our nursery in Bécancour, QC where we verify the characteristic grey-green foliage and bold margin before shipping. Our True to Type standard means you receive the authentic 'Three Sisters', confirmed before it leaves Bécancour.
