Description

Where Blue Meets Cream in a Garden-Ready Dream

R. McWilliams and D. Ruff originated Hosta 'Wildest Dreams' as a sport of H. 'Robb’s Dream'. They registered it in 2019 after Bob Solberg introduced it to the trade. The medium blue-green leaves carry creamy white margins up to 2.5 cm wide with a striking three-colour bleed zone. Glaucous bloom coats both leaf surfaces, adding a soft silvery shimmer in morning light. This sturdy mound grows to 51 cm tall and 91 cm wide, thriving in Canadian gardens from Zone 3 through 9.

Size: 51 cm high × 91 cm wide (20" × 36"); mound-like habit; moderate growth rate
Leaf: 26.7 cm × 19.1 cm (10.5" × 7.5"); 11–12 vein pairs; medium blue-green centre with creamy white margins to 2.5 cm (1") wide; moderately rippled; glaucous bloom on both surfaces; distinctive three-colour bleed where margin meets centre
Scape & Flower: Scapes reach 56–71 cm (22–28") tall; pale lavender tubular flowers to 3.8 cm (1.5") long; blooms mid-July to mid-August; sets viable seed
Sport Origin: Sport of H. 'Robb’s Dream'; originated by R. McWilliams & D. Ruff; registered 2019
Landscape Use: Shade border, woodland garden, mixed perennial bed; three-colour leaf effect creates year-long visual interest

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	51 cm × 91 cm (20" × 36")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Blue-green centre; creamy white margin with bleed zone
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower’s Tip: Hosta 'Wildest Dreams' handles Canadian winters reliably from Zone 3 through 9. We grow it at our nursery in Bécancour, QC, where the three-colour bleed between the blue-green centre and creamy margins is most vivid in early summer. Our True to Type standard means you receive the authentic Wildest Dreams — verified before it leaves Bécancour.
