Description

A Shimmering Shift of Seasonal Colour

Leonard Jones introduced Hosta 'Yellow Polka Dot Bikini' in 2005 as a sport of 'Striptease'. It brings multi-seasonal visual interest to Canadian shade gardens from BC to the Maritimes. The yellow margins shift to apple green through summer, framed by a crisp white dividing line. Lightly cupped and twisted ovate leaves add movement and texture to the garden floor. It grows reliably across Canadian hardiness zones 3–9 and suits borders, containers, and urban spaces.

Striking Transmutation: Watch the bright yellow borders shift to a soft apple green as the Canadian summer warms up, offering two distinct seasonal looks from one plant.
The Signature White Line: A crisp white thread neatly separates the glowing margins from the medium green centre — the prized hallmark of its Striptease lineage.
Playful Architecture: Lightly cupped and twisted ovate leaves add a sense of movement and rich texture to the garden floor.
Compact Charm: Forms a perfectly proportioned, mound-like habit ideal for tight urban spaces or front-of-border placement.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	30.5 cm × 61 cm (12" × 24")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Medium green centre; yellow-to-green margins with white dividing line
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: Site this variety where it receives dappled morning sun to experience the most dramatic colour contrast between the yellow margins and green centre. At our Bécancour, QC trial fields, we enforce our True to Type protocol by waiting for the eyes to emerge and throw distinct variegation before every plant ships.
