Description

A Radiant Jewel of Light for the Front Border

Mark Zilis registered Hosta 'Amy Elizabeth' in 2003 and introduced it through Q&Z Nursery. It is a reverse-coloured sport of H. 'Abby', prized for its rapid growth and tidy mounding habit. The heart-shaped leaves carry a luminous chartreuse-yellow centre framed by a crisp dark green margin. That centre brightens to golden-yellow as the season matures, holding sharp contrast until the first autumn frost. It grows reliably across Canadian hardiness zones 3–9.

Vibrant Reverse Variegation: A luminous chartreuse-to-gold centre is cleanly edged by a narrow, dark green margin that sharpens as the season progresses, creating one of the most striking reverse-variegated hostas for the front border.
Rapid Growth and Multiplier: Establishes a lush, weed-suppressing clump quickly, making it ideal for mass planting, edging a woodland path, or container use.
Prominent Veining: Deeply impressed veins add fine textural detail to the heart-shaped leaves throughout the growing season.
Dainty Lavender Summer Blooms: Sturdy scapes carry bell-shaped lavender flowers in midsummer, attracting hummingbirds and pollinators to the shade garden.
Compact Architectural Habit: Stays low at approximately 33 cm (13") tall and 77 cm (30") wide, making it a perfect edger or container specimen for a shaded deck.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	33 cm × 77 cm (13" × 30")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Chartreuse to gold centre with dark green margin
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade; dappled morning sun enhances gold

Grower's Tip: Site 'Amy Elizabeth' where it receives dappled morning sun to keep the golden centre at its brightest — too much deep shade may hold the colour at chartreuse. It handles Canadian winters with ease from Zone 3 through 9, and we grow it at our nursery in Bécancour, QC until the reverse variegation is stable and vibrant before every plant ships. Our True to Type standard means you receive the authentic 'Amy Elizabeth', verified before it leaves Bécancour.
