Description

A Sculpted Masterpiece of Blue-Green Waves and Rhythmical Twists

Hosta 'Aracus' is an extraordinary achievement in hosta breeding, registered by Randy Goodwin in 2009 as a select seedling of 'Permanent Wave'. This medium-sized cultivar is a visual powerhouse, specifically designed for the collector who prizes architectural movement over simple colour. Each lance-shaped, blue-green leaf is a study in complexity — heavily cupped, twisted, and folded with intense rippling along the margins. As the plant matures in your garden, the lighter-coloured veins provide a striking contrast against the glaucous blue-green blade, creating a shimmering, undulating mass of foliage that remains a captivating focal point from the spring awakening to the first frosts of autumn.

Why It Stands Out

Originator's Stock Divisions: We are proud to offer rare divisions directly from an Originator's Stock plant, ensuring you receive the authentic, high-integrity genetics of Goodwin's vision.
Extreme Foliar Drama: The "very" cupped, twisted, and folded leaf habit creates a unique, multidimensional texture that is virtually unmatched in the blue-green category.
Intense Rippling: Sharp, undulating waves along the outer blade give the entire clump a sense of constant motion and energy.
Elegant Vertical Contrast: In July, the glaucous blue-green scapes rise well above the foliage to display delicate, pale lavender flowers that complement the cool tones of the leaves.

Technical Specs

Feature	Details
Size	30 cm Height / 75 cm Spread (12" H / 30" W)
Hardiness Zone	Standard Canadian Zones 3–9
Colour	Glaucous blue-green with prominent lighter veins

Grower's Tip

To preserve the beautiful waxy "bloom" that gives Hosta 'Aracus' its signature blue-green hue, plant it in a location protected from harsh, direct overhead sun. Because this variety is all about its intricate shape, we wait for the emergence in our Bécancour grow beds to confirm that every twist, fold, and ripple is present and accounted for. This True to Type verification is our guarantee that your Originator's Stock division is healthy, vigorous, and ready to show off its award-worthy form.
