Description

An Operatic Aria of Creamy Margins and Satin Sheen

Taking its stage name from the legendary opera star, Hosta 'Beverly Sills' is a performance-ready tour de force from the breeding program of Rick Goodenough. This very large cultivar descends from Rick's favourite streaked breeder, 'Outrageous', and has inherited a sense of refined drama that is perfect for the expansive Canadian landscape. Whether gracing a garden in the foothills of the Rockies or a coastal estate in the Maritimes, this hosta commands attention with its broad, forest-green leaves and precise, creamy-white margins. The foliage is exceptionally smooth, possessing a satin-like sheen that reflects the soft light of a northern afternoon, making it a sophisticated hallmark for any shade collection.

Why It Stands Out

Stately Presence: Forms a massive, dignified mound that can reach over five feet across, acting as a structural pinnacle in a large border.
Satin-Finished Texture: Unlike heavily corrugated varieties, this leaf is remarkably smooth and glossy, offering a "work of art" aesthetic that feels cool to the touch.
Melodic Ruffling: The creamy-white edges are gently cupped and lightly wavy, mimicking the elegant movement of a stage gown.
Luminous Margins: The contrast between the deep green centre and the bright edge ensures this plant "pops" even in the deepest corners of a Quebec woodland.

Technical Specifications

Feature	Details
Size (Height x Width)	65 x 150 cm (26 x 59 in.)
Hardiness Zone	Canadian Zones 3–9
Colour	Green with Creamy White Edge
Light Requirements	Part Shade to Full Shade
Vein Pairs	11–12

Grower's Tip

Given its "very large" size category, Hosta 'Beverly Sills' requires ample room to reach its full operatic potential — avoid crowding it so the five-foot spread can be fully appreciated. To ensure you receive a plant with the precise variegation and 'Outrageous' genetics Rick Goodenough intended, we verify every division is True to Type at our Bécancour facility. We monitor the first flush of spring growth to confirm that the creamy margins are stable and vibrant before we ever approve it for shipping to your garden.
