Description

A Luminous Newcomer with Ever-Changing Lustre

Hosta 'Blonde Ambition' is a captivating 2023 introduction from Tony Avent, making its Canadian debut for the 2026 season. This small-scale gem is a master of transformation, emerging in spring as a mound of shiny, chartreuse-green foliage before slowly fading to a brilliant white-gold. As summer progresses, the thick, rounded leaves exhibit a unique misted and streaked effect, creating a dynamic visual journey in the shade garden. Whether nestled in a rock garden in the Alberta foothills or a container in downtown Toronto, its pebbled texture and shifting hues provide a sophisticated focal point. At our nursery in Bécancour, we carefully observe this seasonal colour transition to ensure every Hosta 'Blonde Ambition' is True to Type before your selection is prepared for delivery.

Why It Stands Out

Mesmerising Colour Shift: The foliage moves through a spectrum of chartreuse to white-gold, offering a fresh look all summer long.
Intricate Leaf Texture: Rounded, substantial leaves feature a distinct pebbling that catches the light and adds a rugged charm.
Misted and Streaked Details: As the colours fade, the leaves develop a delicate, variegated appearance that feels like a work of art.
Dainty Early Blooms: Produces near-white, pale lavender flowers on short scapes that perfectly complement its bright, small-mound habit.

Technical Specs

Feature	Details
Size	18 cm high × 38 cm wide
Hardiness Zone	Canadian Zones 3–9
Colour	Chartreuse to white-gold
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip

Because Hosta 'Blonde Ambition' is a smaller variety with thick, rounded leaves, it is an ideal candidate for the front of a border or a high-quality trough where its detailed texture can be appreciated up close. We never ship dormant roots — we wait for the first flush of spring in Bécancour to verify that the misted variegation and pebbled surface are True to Type, ensuring your new addition arrives ready to shine.
