Description

A Delectable Cerulean Treat for the Shady Border

Dr. Jim Meyer introduced Hosta 'Blueberry Muffin' as a whimsical yet rugged mid-sized cultivar. Its nearly round, heavily puckered leaves hold a thick waxy bloom that resists fading all season. Rich mauve-to-purple petioles contrast beautifully against the deep cobalt foliage. It thrives across Canadian hardiness zones 3 through 9 with ease. Plant it at the front or mid-border where its muffin-top mounding habit becomes a true conversation piece.

Intense Cobalt Corrugation: Heavily puckered and cupped leaves hold a thick, waxy sapphire bloom that resists fading even in midsummer heat.
Striking Mauve Petioles: Rich blue foliage contrasts beautifully against vibrant mauve-to-purple petioles, adding colour right down to the soil line.
Exceptional Slug Resistance: Thick, leathery leaf substance keeps this variety tidy and dimpled throughout the long Canadian growing season.
Mauve Summer Spires: In mid-to-late summer, sturdy purple scapes rise above the canopy to display clusters of soft lavender bell-shaped flowers.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	36 cm × 91 cm (14″ × 36″)
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Deep powder-blue with purple petioles
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: Plant Hosta 'Blueberry Muffin' at the top of a low stone wall or in a decorative pot where those colourful purple stems are fully visible. It handles Canadian winters reliably from Zone 3 through 9, and we grow it at our nursery in Bécancour, QC until those signature puckered blue leaves and purple petioles fully manifest. Our True to Type standard means you receive the authentic 'Blueberry Muffin', verified before it leaves Bécancour.
