Description

A Festive Spectacle of Wide Snowy Borders and Sapphire Glaze

Hosta 'Christmas Pageant' is a spectacular 1999 introduction from the Pinterics program. A sport of the legendary Hosta 'Christmas Tree', this variety takes its parent's best traits and amplifies them for a truly show-stopping garden performance. This mid-sized beauty is a standout choice for the Canadian landscape, offering a cool, refreshing aesthetic that feels right at home from the maritime mist of Newfoundland to the rocky foothills of the West. It forms a perfectly rounded, architectural mound that serves as a reliable hallmark in any shady border.

Extra-Wide Margins: Each leaf is framed by a generous, creamy white border significantly wider than its predecessor, providing an intense visual contrast against the dark centre.
Glaucous Sapphire Core: The heart-shaped leaves emerge with a beautiful blue-green wax, creating a sophisticated lapis-toned contrast that transitions to a rich forest green as the season progresses.
Rugged Corrugation: Mature plants develop a heavily puckered and corrugated texture — a pinnacle of substance that naturally deters slugs and holds up to summer storms.
Holiday-Like Blooms: In midsummer, the plant is topped with sturdy scapes of pale lavender flowers that complement the snowy-edged foliage beautifully.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	51 cm × 91 cm (20" × 36")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Blue-green with wide creamy white margins
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: Because Hosta 'Christmas Pageant' is a sport, maintaining that specific wide-margin stability is key to its identity. We are particularly vigilant with this variety and refuse to ship dormant roots based on a label alone. Instead, we wait for the spring emergence here in Bécancour to visually confirm that the variegation is stable and the leaf texture is True to Type before your specimen is carefully packed for its new home.
