Description

A Spicy Fusion of Glossy Emerald and Deep Burgundy Stems

A companion of sorts to his earlier work, Hosta 'Cinnamon Sticks' is another 2000 registration from Jim Herold that takes the red petiole trend to a refined new level. This small-to-medium standout is a tour de force of contrast, forming a tidy, vase-shaped mound that perfectly showcases its namesake stems. It is an ideal choice for the intimate Canadian shade garden, whether nestled into a rockery in the Rockies or lining a stone path in a historic Quebec City courtyard.

Intense Stem Pigmentation: The petioles are saturated in a rich, dark cinnamon-to-burgundy hue that climbs elegantly toward the base of the leaf blade.
Mirror-Like Sheen: The medium green leaves are remarkably glossy, providing a shimmering, high-sheen finish that reflects light even on the greyest Canadian afternoons.
Upright V Profile: Its architectural, vase-like habit ensures that the colourful stems remain visible and clear of the soil, offering a clean and polished look.
Late Season Charm: In late summer, the plant is crowned with lavender flowers that emerge from scapes carrying that signature cinnamon-red tone.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	33 cm × 69 cm (13" × 27")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Glossy medium green with dark cinnamon-red petioles
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: Hosta 'Cinnamon Sticks' is at its best when positioned where its upright form can be appreciated from the side, such as along a raised edge. Because the intensity of the cinnamon pigmentation is what separates this variety from the pack, we refuse to ship dormant eyes based on a label alone. We wait for the spring emergence here in Bécancour to visually confirm the petiole colour and glossy leaf texture are True to Type before your specimen is cleared for shipping.
