Description

A Concentrated Burst of Pure Midsummer Sunshine

Hosta 'Country Sun Drop' is a medium-sized yellow hosta bred by Josh Spece and registered in 2020. Its broadly ovate leaves emerge in soft chartreuse and shift to a glowing sunny yellow by midsummer. The surface is lightly cupped and corrugated with slightly rippled margins. It thrives in Canadian gardens across zones 3–9. Its compact, symmetrical mound makes it ideal as an edging plant or a high-impact specimen in smaller beds.

Radiant Seasonal Shift: Foliage transitions from soft spring chartreuse to an intense, bright yellow that holds its colour through the height of the season.
Intricate Texture: Each leaf features a lightly cupped and corrugated surface with slightly rippled margins for a sophisticated hammered-gold look.
Showy Floral Display: Tall, straight scapes rise well above the 33 cm (13") mound and carry large, pale purple blooms in summer.
Tidy Mound Habit: A spread of 86 cm (34") forms a dense, symmetrical skirt — perfect for borders, containers, or specimen planting.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	33 cm × 86 cm (13" × 34")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Chartreuse maturing to sunny yellow
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: To encourage the fastest chartreuse-to-yellow transition, site this variety where it receives a few hours of filtered morning light. We monitor spring emergence at our Bécancour trial fields to verify the colour shift and corrugated leaf structure are True to Type before every order ships.
