Luminous Golden Foliage Paired with Deep Sanguine Accents
Hosta 'Cranberry Wine' is a small-medium viridescent hosta bred by Kathie Sisson from H. 'Cinnamon Sticks' and H. 'Tequila Sunrise'. Its shiny, pointed leaves open bright yellow and shift to rich chartreuse as the Canadian summer progresses. The defining feature is the saturated cranberry-red of its petioles and scapes, which glow against the lime-hued foliage. It thrives in Canadian shade gardens across zones 3–9. Dark purple flowers appear late in the season, extending garden interest well into September.

-

Grower's Tip: To highlight the wine-red stems at their best, site this hosta where morning light can illuminate the petioles from behind. Because this variety is viridescent, its leaf colour shifts subtly over the weeks. We wait for this transition to begin at our Bécancour trial fields to confirm every plant is True to Type before it ships.
