A High-Gloss Pinnacle of Rippled Gold and Crimson Stems
Hosta 'Devastator' was introduced by hybridizer Ron Livingston in 2009. It is a descendant of the legendary Hosta 'Invincible'. Its leaves are ultra-shiny on both sides and look perpetually wet. Bright yellow margins emerge in spring and fade to lime green by midsummer. It is hardy across Canadian zones 3–9 and grows into a wide, dense mound.
-
Luminous Glossy Foliage: Both the top and undersides of the leaves are remarkably shiny, creating a polished look that reflects dappled shade beautifully.
-
Vibrant Seasonal Shift: Foliage emerges with bright yellow, moderately wavy margins that transition gracefully to lime green as the season matures.
-
Red-Tinted Details: Scapes and seed pods are tinted with burgundy and red, adding a sophisticated layer of late-season interest.
-
Unique Horizontal Habit: As August approaches, the petioles spread horizontally, creating a distinctive wide-reaching architectural form.

Grower's Tip: Our stock comes from direct divisions of the hybridizer's original clump. This makes each plant a piece of horticultural history. We monitor growth rate and margin ripples at our Bécancour trial fields each spring. Every division must be True to Type before we ship it to your garden.
