Description

A Luminous Pillar of Ivory and Beryl

Hosta 'Extasy' is a Hans Hansen introduction prized for its striking upright habit and seasonal colour shift. The leaf centres emerge creamy-yellow in spring and transition to a clean, bright white by mid-summer. Green margins with a soft glaucous bloom frame the luminous centres for bold contrast. It suits containers and front-border placements in Canadian zones 3–9. Bright, filtered light brings out the best variegation.

Seasonal Transformation: Leaf centres shift from warm cream in spring to stark white by mid-summer, providing a dynamic display across the full growing season.
Velvety Glaucous Bloom: Both leaf surfaces carry a soft, matte finish that gives the green margins a cool, beryl-toned depth.
Sophisticated Architecture: The upright, flared habit and flat leaves add height to the front of a perennial border or shine as a container specimen.
Late Summer Stripes: In late July and August, bell-shaped medium lavender flowers with darker interior striping add a final touch of elegance.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	25 cm × 43 cm (10" × 17")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Cream-to-white centres with 2.5 cm wide green margins
Light Requirements	Part shade to filtered sun

Grower's Tip: The high percentage of white leaf tissue means this cultivar needs bright, filtered light to prevent centre burn in peak summer heat. We monitor every plant at our Bécancour trial fields to confirm the white centres are healthy and True to Type before shipping.
