Description

A Fiery Masterpiece of Exotic Contrast

Hosta 'Eye of the Dragon' is a Dutch introduction from hybridizer Jan van den Top. It is a variegated sport of Hosta 'Red Dragon', selected for its vivid red petioles and luminous chartreuse-to-yellow foliage. The lance-shaped leaves arch outward in a graceful mound. It grows well across Canadian hardiness zones 3–9.

Vivid Red Petioles: Deep ruby-red stems contrast sharply with the bright foliage above. Hosta 'Eye of the Dragon' is most striking when planted at eye level in a raised bed or tall container.
Radiant Seasonal Colour: Leaves emerge in brilliant chartreuse and shift to warm yellow as the season progresses. Colour interest extends from spring through late summer.
Graceful Arching Habit: Lance-shaped leaves spill outward in a tidy mound 35.5 cm (14") tall × 63.5 cm (25") wide. It works well as a focal point or edging specimen.
Irregular Green Margins: Delicate beryl-green margins frame the bright centres. They add depth and a shimmering quality to each leaf.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	35.5 cm × 63.5 cm (14" × 25")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Chartreuse to yellow with irregular green margins and red petioles
Light Requirements	Partial to filtered shade

Grower's Tip: Plant Hosta 'Eye of the Dragon' in a raised bed or tall decorative container to showcase the vivid red petioles at eye level. Every plant we ship is observed in our Bécancour, QC trial fields to confirm it is True to Type — verifying precise leaf elongation and full stem colour saturation before Hosta 'Eye of the Dragon' leaves our nursery.
