Description

A Legendary Fragrant Classic — Hosta of the Year 1998

Hosta 'Fragrant Bouquet' is a large, sweetly fragrant hosta bred by Alex Vaughn and registered in 1982. Named the American Hosta Growers Association Hosta of the Year in 1998, it remains one of the most celebrated fragrant cultivars ever introduced. Its apple-green leaves are edged in a creamy-yellow to white margin that brightens through the season. It is reliably hardy across Canadian zones 3–9. Plant it near a path or seating area where its evening fragrance can be fully enjoyed.

Exceptional Fragrance: Large, near-white trumpet flowers bloom in mid-summer and release a sweet, lily-like fragrance — particularly pronounced in the evening hours.
Striking Variegation: Apple-green to light green centres are framed by a creamy-yellow margin that transitions to white, creating a luminous, two-tone effect in the shade garden.
Impressive Scale: Mature plants reach 56 cm (22") high by 119 cm (47") wide, forming a bold, weed-suppressing mound with excellent substance.
Award-Winning Pedigree: Recognized as Hosta of the Year in 1998 by the American Hosta Growers Association — a distinction earned by fewer than one cultivar per year.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	56 cm × 119 cm (22" × 47")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Apple-green centre; creamy-yellow to white margin
Light Requirements	Partial shade to morning sun

Grower's Tip: A touch of morning sun will intensify the creamy-white margin and encourage the best fragrance from the blooms. At our Bécancour, QC trial fields, we verify the signature variegation and vigour before every plant ships True to Type.
