Description

A Fleeting Vision of Creamy Moonlight and Sapphire

Hosta 'Lakeside Dream On' is widely regarded as one of the rarest gems in the entire Lakeside collection. Registered in 2006 by Mary Chastain, this majestic, upright performer was born from the elite pairing of Hosta 'Lakeside Roy El' and Hosta 'Lakeside Blue Jean'. Our stock was sourced directly from Originator Stock in 2017 — and 2026 marks the very first time Hosta Choice Gardens has offered this elusive cultivar to the public.

Extraordinary Margins: Massive 5.1 cm (2") wide creamy white borders frame the medium blue-green centres, creating one of the most dramatic variegated patterns in the genus.
Perfectly Circular Geometry: The unique 20 cm (8") leaves are as wide as they are long, presenting broadly ovate forms with 19 deeply etched vein pairs.
Luminous Glaucous Bloom: A soft, waxy powder coats the foliage in spring, giving the plant a dreamy, sapphire-toned glow that eventually transitions to a crisp, clean green.
Purest White Blooms: Rising above the sprawling 112 cm (44") mound in early summer are elegant, tubular flowers of pure white on sturdy green scapes.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	46 cm × 112 cm (18" × 44")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Blue-green with massive creamy white margins
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: With only two pots available for the entire 2026 season, this cultivar demands a place of honour in your garden. A moderate grower with wide, delicate margins, it requires stable conditions to reach its full 112 cm potential. At our Bécancour nursery, we refuse to ship until we can visually confirm the emergence of those signature wide, flat margins — ensuring every specimen is True to Type, healthy, and ready to uphold the legacy of Mary Chastain's finest work.
