Description

Desert-Cool Blue in the Heart of the Shade Garden

Kent Terpening introduced Hosta 'Sahara Nights' as a medium blue-green hosta with ruffled, wavy margins and a matte finish that gives the foliage a cool, dusty quality. The leaves form an upright, well-structured clump with good substance and pointed tips. It grows reliably across Canadian hardiness zones 3–9. Use it as a mid-border specimen or a striking potted plant for a shaded deck or patio.

Ruffled Blue-Green Foliage: Wavy, ruffled leaf margins and a matte blue-green surface give 'Sahara Nights' a distinctive texture that stands out among blue hostas in the shade border.
Upright Clump Habit: The strongly upright form adds vertical structure to the mid-border and pairs beautifully with lower-growing companions or ground covers.
Good Substance: Thick, durable leaves with pointed tips provide natural resistance to slug damage and hold their form well through the heat of a Canadian summer.
Lavender Midsummer Blooms: Lovely lavender flowers appear in midsummer on tall scapes above the foliage, adding a soft colour contrast to the cool blue-green mound below.
Versatile Garden Performer: Equally at home in a shaded border or a large container on a deck, 'Sahara Nights' adapts well to a range of shade conditions across Canada.

Feature	Specification
Size (H × W)	38 cm × 74 cm (15" × 29")
Hardiness Zone	3–9
Colour	Blue-green with matte finish
Light Requirements	Partial to full shade

Grower's Tip: 'Sahara Nights' handles Canadian winters with ease from Zone 3 through 9, and its upright habit makes it one of the most architectural medium blue hostas we grow at our nursery in Bécancour, QC. Our True to Type standard means you receive the authentic 'Sahara Nights', with its characteristic ruffled blue-green foliage verified before it leaves Bécancour.
