Description

Hosta 'Wendy' (A Hosta Choice Gardens Original)

A Living Tribute: Strength, Grace, and Service

Hosta 'Wendy' is one of the most personal introductions in the Hosta Choice Gardens collection. We named this variety in loving memory of Glenn's birth mother, a proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. An exquisite variegated sport of the award-winning 'World Cup', 'Wendy' stands "at attention" with a dignified, upright presence. Just like the woman it honors, this hosta embodies both strength and elegance—a living tribute to a legacy of service and a breathtaking centrepiece for the Canadian shade garden.

Why It Stands Out:

An Exclusive Introduction: This is a Hosta Choice Gardens original. By purchasing 'Wendy', you are supporting the hybridizers who discovered and trialed her right here in Canada.
Dynamic Colour Transition: The glowing centres emerge as a vibrant chartreuse in early spring, gradually brightening to a luminous yellow as the season progresses.
Bold Framing: Features substantial, heart-shaped leaves with wide, dark green margins (at least 1" thick) that provide a sharp, military-spec contrast.
Architectural Form: Inherits the iconic upright, cupped, and corrugated foliage of its parent, 'World Cup', making it a standout vertical accent.

Grower’s Tip:

Because 'Wendy' carries such a significant meaning to our family, we handle her with the highest level of care. Following our "True to Type" guarantee, we never ship 'Wendy' as a dormant eye. We wait for her to fully emerge in our Bécancour gardens so we can visually verify that her unique cupping and variegation are perfect before she is cleared for shipping. We want to ensure that the plant reaching your garden is as strong and vibrant as the memory of the woman for whom it was named.
